SkincareIngredient Checker

Analyze any product for a breakdown of its ingredients.

How this works

Every ingredient is matched against the EU register
33,625 entries from CosIng, the European Commission's cosmetic ingredient database. The matcher handles the variations manufacturers actually print — trade names in brackets, all-caps, asterisks, and the slash forms like Aqua/Water.
An ingredient we cannot read is shown, not dropped
Anything unmatched appears in the list marked as unrecognised, and the roll-up says how many ingredients the verdicts were computed from. Silently discarding a token would make a partial answer look complete.
Every check has three answers, not two
Clear, flagged, or not assessed. Not assessed means we do not hold the data to answer — never that the answer is probably fine. Tap any check to see which ingredients triggered it, or why we could not assess it.

Frequently asked questions

Where do I find a product's ingredient list?
On the packaging, or on a large retailer's product page — they tend to keep them current. You can also photograph the label and upload it.
Why does a check say “not assessed”?
Because we do not hold the data for it yet. Some checks need a brand, which a pasted list does not have; others need per-ingredient ratings that do not exist for most ingredients anywhere. Tap the check to see which applies.
Why do some ingredients have no explanation?
Written explanations exist for the ingredients that appear most often. For the rest we show what the ingredient is classed as, or its chemical definition from CosIng — and where we have neither, we say so rather than guess.
